Minnesota Timberwolves Advance to Western Conference Finals
Edwards Leads Wolves to Victory, Nuggets Face Elimination
The Minnesota Timberwolves are one step closer to the NBA Finals after a dominant 115-70 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night. Anthony Edwards led the Wolves with 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Karl-Anthony Towns added 26 points and 12 rebounds.
The Wolves held Denver to an ugly 29-of-83 shooting night, and the most impressive thing about that was the absence of their best defender, 7-foot center Rudy Gobert. Gobert is still recovering from a calf injury and is not expected to return until the NBA Finals.
The Nuggets were led by Nikola Jokic, who had 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists. But Jokic was not able to get much help from his teammates, as Jamal Murray was held to just 15 points on 5-of-17 shooting. Michael Porter Jr. was even worse, scoring just 10 points on 3-of-12 shooting.
The Wolves now lead the series 3-1 and can close it out in Game 5 on Saturday night in Denver. The Nuggets will need to find a way to get more production from their supporting cast if they want to avoid a disappointing end to their season.
