Breaking News: Apple and Bose Sued Over iPod Compatibility
Apple and Bose have been sued by a class-action lawsuit alleging that they conspired to limit compatibility between Apple's iPods and Bose's speakers.
The lawsuit, which was filed in federal court in California, alleges that Apple and Bose entered into an agreement in 2005 to prevent Bose from selling speakers that were compatible with iPods.
The agreement, which is said to have been renewed in 2010, allegedly stipulated that Bose would not sell any speakers that could connect to iPods using the standard 30-pin connector. This effectively prevented Bose from competing with Apple's own line of iPod docks.
The lawsuit alleges that the agreement between Apple and Bose violated antitrust laws by preventing competition and artificially inflating prices for iPod docks.
